With deep respect for everything generative AI offers across industries, what's obvious is written digital content is quickly becoming dull and 'flattened'. Fully Human exists to rock the editorial boat in a sea of sameness. We make different, original written content that ranks and resonates.
Why original content matters more than ever
The internet's content flattened. Google noticed.
Over the last two years, Google has fundamentally restructured its algorithm to target low-effort AI generation and reward exactly what it cannot replicate: human perspective, lived experience, and original insight. The data, the documentation, and the update timeline all point in the same direction.
Google's own guidelines demand original perspective
Google's Helpful Content System — now integrated into its core algorithm — explicitly asks: does this content offer original perspectives, insights, or analyses that go beyond what is commonly available? Content that simply summarises what other websites say is flagged as unhelpful. The technical concept behind this is 'information gain': a measure of how much new information a page brings to the web. A human writer drawing on unique experience provides high information gain. An AI rephrasing existing internet data provides zero.
The algorithm updates tell a clear story
The March 2024 Core Update was the historic turning point — Google formally integrated the Helpful Content Update into its core ranking system, wiping out thousands of sites relying on mass-produced AI articles. The March and May 2026 Core Updates continued this trajectory, causing major traffic drops for sites relying on templated publishing while rewarding brands that showcase first-party data, real-world case studies, and clear author expertise. Industry analysts have called it a war on 'Mt. AI' — commodity content at scale.
E-E-A-T: Experience is now a ranking signal
For years, Google judged content on E-A-T: Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness. To combat the rise of AI, they added a second E — Experience. According to Google's Search Quality Rater Guidelines, Experience means the content demonstrates genuine, first-hand, lived experience with the topic. An AI can write an expert-sounding article by scraping the web. It cannot replicate the experience of sitting in the room, understanding the stakes, and finding the right words for that specific audience.
Google's latest algorithm updates are actively penalising generic AI content. If your website sounds like an algorithm wrote it, Google is going to hide it. You need a human perspective to survive the new era of search.
